VARTA Microbattery strengthens its market position for the future through ISO/TS 16949 certification of its international assembly plants
After a series of comprehensive audits in the plants in Ellwangen (Germany), Batam (Indonesia) and
Shanghai (China), VARTA Microbattery has extended its quality certificates with the ISO/TS 16949
certificate for its assembly plants in Batam and Shanghai.
On account of the rapidly growing utilization and thus steadily increasing importance of micro
batteries in automotive electronics, including use in remote keys, alarms, toll systems, container
tracking as well as the future European emergency call system eCall, VARTA Microbattery has thus
further strengthened its market position for the future in this sector.
Besides the existing certifications according to ISO 9001:2008 for research, development,
manufacture and marketing of electrochemical energy storage systems, ISO 14001:2004 for
environmental management and ISO 50001:2011 for energy management, this additional
certification documents the consistent growth strategy of VARTA Microbattery as a worldwide
supplier of high-quality and reliable energy systems.
